How should bread be stored at room temperature?
Leave a message
The key to storing bread at room temperature lies in sealing it tightly, keeping it away from light and moisture, and avoiding high temperatures, in order to delay starch retrogradation and prevent mold growth.
Airtight Storage: Completely wrap the bread using a food bag, food container, or aluminum foil to prevent moisture loss and the absorption of other odors.
Store in a Cool, Dry Place: Keep in an environment with a temperature between 18°C and 25°C, away from direct sunlight, stovetops, or damp areas.
Avoid Prolonged Sealing in Plastic Bags: For crusty breads such as baguettes, it is recommended to wrap them in paper bags or cotton/linen bags to preserve the crispness of the crust.
Do Not Refrigerate: Refrigeration accelerates starch retrogradation, causing the bread to dry out and harden rapidly; even after reheating, it is difficult to restore its original soft texture.
